Now rising at the corner of 5th and Spring Street, George Tower anchors Tech Square’s Phase 3 expansion, a major project that continues to grow Georgia Tech’s innovation ecosystem. The 18-story building covers more than 416,000 square feet and honors alumni Penny and William “Bill” George.

Although the project is still under construction, the tower opens in Fall 2026 for the 2026–2027 academic year. Once it opens, ISyE students will move into classrooms, study spaces and research areas designed specifically for modern engineering work.

Active Learning Classrooms

The classrooms inside George Tower move far beyond the traditional lecture layout. Each room includes flexible seating, advanced technology and layouts that support both group and individual learning. As a result, students can shift easily between discussion, presentations and project work.

Cutting-Edge Research Labs

In addition to classroom space, the building offers high-tech research labs. These labs give students and faculty room to test ideas, analyze data and work on projects that solve real-world problems. Since ISyE covers a wide range of industries, these labs encourage hands-on experiences that match career paths in analytics, logistics, operations, manufacturing and more.

Study Spaces for Every Need

Throughout the tower, students will find quiet nooks for focus as well as larger areas for teamwork. Because study habits vary throughout the day, the building includes a mix of options to support exam prep, homework sessions and group meetings.
